Pedestrian badly hurt in northeast Modesto crash

A 51-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his legs and head after being hit by a car while using a crosswalk in northeast Modesto on Sunday afternoon.

A driver was making a left turn onto Floyd Avenue from Lincoln Oak Drive about 5:40 p.m. and failed to see the man in the crosswalk, said Lt. Jason Grogan of the Modesto Police Department.

The man was transported to Doctors Medical Center for treatment and was expected to survive, Grogan said. The woman driving the car was cooperative with police officers, he said, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
