What: New books for Christmas

Where: Parent Resource Center, 811 Fifth St.
Info: The Parent Resource Center in Modesto is accepting donations of new children’s books that will be given as Christmas gifts to children whose parents are receiving services from the PRC. New books can be dropped off Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the PRC office. The deadline to donate books is Dec. 4. What: “Getting a Green Light From FIRE” Tyler Coward talk on student free speech
When: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday
Where: Forum Building Room 110, Modesto Junior College East Campus, 435 College Ave.
Info: MJC’s Young Americans for Liberty will present Tyler Coward from the nonprofit Foundation for Individual Rights in Education speaking about how to get administrations to change unconstitutional policies at college campuses. There will be free pizza.

75 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the Oakdale Union Grammar Schools would be providing free lunches to more than 200 students who were considered undernourished. The free lunches were provided by the Surplus Marketing Administration said J.J. Berry, superintendent of the grammar schools. In the past, the Oakdale Parent Teacher Association used funds from the group’s budget to pay for the lunches.
