What: Third Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

Info: Organizers hope to collect 500 turkeys to benefit the Modesto Gospel Mission and Salvation Army. Checks also are accepted. About 50 turkeys have been received so far. For more information, call Amanda Ruibal at 209-521-2727.

What: Latino Community Roundtable meeting

YESTERYEARS

50 YEARS AGO: It was announced that Modesto native and Air Force Lt. Chris Patterakis was selected to join the Thunderbirds Flying Team. He was a pilot instructor at Laughlin Air Force Base, Del Rio, Texas, and was one of two pilots chosen from a pool of 50 to join the team. Lt. Patterakis would be assigned to the group for a two-year period, stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.
