What: Modesto Dickens’ Faire Craft seeks vendors

When: Deadline Nov. 27

Where: 15th Street and McClatchy Park

Info: Spaces available for craft and gift vendors at Modesto’s Dickens Faire Victorian Christmas Market on Dec. 5. The day’s event includes farmers market, entertainment, children’s activities, McHenry Mansion tours and unique shopping opportunities. What: Volunteer cleanup

When: Wednesday

Where: South side of Oakdale Road-Scenic Drive intersection

Info: Volunteers needed for cleanup from 9 to noon. Organizer Rhonda Allen said volunteers should bring work gloves and a plastic garbage bag. She said about a dozen people have volunteered, including staff from the nearby SaveMart and Grocery Outlet stores. She said the city is providing safety vests and will pick up the bagged trash. Allen said the focus will be on picking up the litter along the road and that gets stuck along the fence. Those interested in helping are asked to show up.

What: Paint-it-Forward project nominations sought

Info: Lancaster Painting is seeking nominations for its fifth annual Paint it Forward project. Each year, the Turlock painting company selects a nonprofit organization or family for a free painting project. Nominations may be mailed to Lancaster Painting, 228 N. YESTERYEARS

25 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the Stanislaus County elections officials counted more than 10,000 absentee ballots, but leads in certain races did not change. In the Waterford mayor’s race, Joe Rockwell’s lead increased by one to five votes, with more remaining to be counted and/or in need of being resolved. Stanislaus County Clerk Karen Mathews had another 700 challenged ballots in need of being counted the following week.
