Modesto area gets another fall soaking

Sunday’s storm brought 0.31 inches of rain downtown as of 7 p.m., the Modesto Irrigation District reported.

The rain has not been as heavy as last week’s, but this storm is colder, bringing snow to middle elevations of the Sierra Nevada watershed that feeds the San Joaquin Valley.

The National Weather Service forecast a 60 percent chance of rain Monday, heavy at times, followed by mostly sunny days the rest of the week.

Modesto already has surpassed the average rainfall for November but still is feeling the effects of four years of drought.
