What: “Found” student art exhibition

When: Monday through Dec. 3, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: MJC Art Gallery on east campus, 435 College Ave.

Info: Modesto Junior College presents “Found,” an exhibition of artwork by MJC students in the Visual Arts Club. The free exhibit features a variety of artwork, including multimedia, painting, sculpture, drawing and ceramics by art majors as well as students who are just beginning to study art. A free public reception with the artists will be held Nov. 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the MJC Art Gallery at 209-575-6819.

What: Relay for Life garage sale fundraiser

When: Saturday

Where: 2513 Bridle Path Lane, Modesto

Info: The United in Love Relay for Life team will hold its third annual garage sale with household items, furniture, baby clothes, crib, strollers, highchairs, toys, books and holiday items. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

100 YEARS AGO: It was announced that a lawsuit filed in March by the Waterford Irrigation District against the Modesto Irrigation District for right of way of the Modesto main canal to carry water from the La Grange dam to Waterford would proceed. However, the negotiations between the two bodies had not ceased; talks were ongoing as to the price that would be paid by Waterford for the right of way. If the two bodies forged an agreement before the lawsuit ran its course, it would then be void.
