What: “The Hunting Ground” screening

Info: The Modesto Junior College Civic Engagement Project invites the community to a screening of the documentary film “The Hunting Ground.” The free event is part of the CEP Fall Film and Lecture Series. Campus parking is available for $2 in student parking lots. “The Hunting Ground” is about rape at American colleges. The film focuses on student activists who claim that school administrators are not doing enough in terms of punishing assailants, respecting the dignity of victims, publicizing sexual assault rates and improving the safety of students. YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors had turned down a motion to declare a moratorium on chopping up farmland, without a vote. The proposal was brought to the board by real estate developers and two farmers who wanted to split up their holdings. The supervisors declined the motion by Supervisor William C. Uil of Modesto for a moratorium.
