Salvation Army seeks donations for holidays
The Salvation Army in Modesto is seeking donations of new clothing for children and Christmas food and toys.
The organization is seeking new coats, jackets, sweatshirts and other warm outwear for infants and children up to age 17. Donations can be dropped off at the Modesto Citadel, 625 I St., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The army plans to give out the clothing Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Citadel for as long as supplies last.
The army also is seeking donations of new Christmas toys and food that it will hand out to needy families. Donations also can be dropped off at the Citadel during business hours.
The Salvation Army provided food baskets that fed 4,887 men, women and children last year. It also provided nearly 6,500 toys, which made the holidays brighter for many children.
The Army plans to distribute the toys and holiday food Dec. 12 at the Agriculture Pavilion at Modesto Junior College’s west campus. Those who were qualified and signed up for the giveaway in the past several weeks have been given a specific time to show up.
