YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: The season opened for the Modesto Symphony Orchestra. More than 800 people were in attendance for the group’s 11th season at the Modesto High School auditorium. Mardsen Argail, baritone, and Miss Livia Maracci, soprano, were applauded by the crowd. Each sang three numbers and then they presented a vocal duet from the opera “Cavaleria Rusticana.” Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major was a feature of the symphony’s presentation.
