Rain arriving in Modesto, looks to stay awhile
The National Weather Service’s forecast for Modesto depicts something we haven’t seen too much of lately: several days of on-and-off rain.
A system moved into the area late Tuesday, bringing rain in many areas by early Wednesday. It’s the first of several storms set to visit the Northern San Joaquin Valley.
At its downtown weather station, the Modesto Irrigation District reported no measurable rain by late Wednesday afternoon and a high temperature for the day of 67 degrees.
“The last system is expected to be the wettest Friday night into Saturday,” forecasters say. It’s a warm storm, meaning snow levels will remain fairly high.
Temperatures are expected to reach the low 60s during the day, with overnight lows dropping down into the mid- to upper 40s.
The storms are expected to clear out by Sunday, leaving sunshine and cool conditions. Next week looks to be clear, forecasters say.
