YESTERYEARS

100 YEARS AGO: A group of concerned Modesto citizens came together to form the Modesto School Improvement Association. The goal of the association was to seek the betterment of school facilities. The meeting was held at the Coffee Club hall. Dr. J.B. Simms was chosen president and L.A. Farris was elected secretary. The association’s resolution of purpose gave Simms the authority to create a committee of six advisers to help him choose members for three subcommittees that would consider school sites, school buildings and curriculum.
