What: TUOLUMNE RIVER CLEANUP

Info: Operation 9-2-99 is seeking volunteers for its monthly three-hour effort to help clean up the Tuolumne River. Volunteers should bring gloves and drinking water and wear sturdy shoes. A liability form must be signed for volunteers, and those under 18 need a parent signature. What: SUICIDE PREVENTION AWARENESS EVENT

25 YEARS AGO: Prominent Oakdale rancher Robert Rodden sold 9,000 acres of farm and grazing land, on the San Joaquin-Sacramento county border, to a land developer. The developer, Douglas Golding, planned to transform the Shingle Springs area into a 10,000-home self-contained community.
