Stanislaus Animal Services offers dog license amnesty program in October
The Stanislaus Animal Services Agency is offering a dog license amnesty program for the entire month of October to the residents of Modesto, Ceres, Patterson, Waterford, Hughson and the unincorporated areas of the county. Anyone purchasing a dog license faces no late fees or penalties.
As a bonus, the Animal Services Auxiliary is providing a free American Veterinary Identification Devices microchip for each dog, a $20 value, when a dog license is bought in October.
The law requires all dogs over the age of 4 months to be licensed. If a dog gets lost, a license tag on its collar is one of the fastest methods to reunite the pet with its owner.
Licensing also lets people know that a dog has received required vaccinations that protect it from rabies.
This amnesty program is available by visiting the Stanislaus County Animal Services Agency at 3647 Cornucopia Way, Modesto, during regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
