Man riding motorized wheelchair hit by car, killed
A 52-year-old man was killed Thursday morning when he was struck by a car while crossing Crows Landing Road in a motorized wheelchair.
The collision occurred at 6:01 a.m., Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves said.
The man was riding his wheelchair eastbound across Crows Landing Road near Pecos Avenue, Graves said. It was unknown if the man was crossing at the intersection, she said.
The car that struck the man was in the No. 1 lane traveling south on Crows Landing.
Authorities arrived and attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, Graves said.
The driver of the car stopped and cooperated with authorities.
Police are looking for witnesses to the incident.
