Wildlife photographers can enter contest
The fifth annual wildlife photo contest is underway at the Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center.
Images of Central Valley and Sierra Nevada creatures can be entered through Nov. 30. The prizes are $150 for first place, $100 for second and $50 for third, plus $75 for the best photographer 16 or younger. Up to 10 photos can be entered by each person.
CSERC, based in Twain Harte, plans to use some of the photos on its website and in slideshows it presents around the Valley and Sierra.
Entries should be emailed in high-resolution and JPG format to lindseym@cserc.org. The winners will be announced Dec.5.
Previous first-place winners include:
▪ 2013: David Hargus of Arnold with his image of a burrowing owl perched on a post.
▪ 2012: Ricky Shaw of Jamestown with a snake eating a trout.
▪ 2011: Gemma Gylling of Valley Springs with a mountain lion crossing a stream.
▪ 2010: Peggy Sells of Mi-Wuk Village with a merganser, a kind of duck, eating a trout.
CSERC, founded in 1990, has been involved in many wildlife, water, forest and other issues. More than 130,000 students and other people have seen its slideshows.
