Pedestrian badly hurt in downtown Modesto crash

A man is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck early today at Sixth and I streets in Modesto, police report.

The intersection has crosswalks and signals. It appears the pedestrian was in the roadway, said Lt. Kelly Scott, but the 4:33 a.m. crash still is being investigated and it’s unclear who had the right of way.

The male adult had no identification on him, Scott said. The driver of the pickup that hit him was uninjured and cooperative with officers.

Neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the crash, Scott said.
