Two-alarm blaze damages two north Modesto homes
Two north Modesto homes in the Dutch Hollow neighborhood were damaged by a fire late Saturday morning.
The Modesto Fire Department was dispatched a little after 11 a.m. to a structure fire on Cheyenne Way. When crews arrived they found a fire in a vacant two-story house and the call was raised to two alarms. While battling one blaze, firefighters discovered the flames had jumped to an occupied home on Rodeo Circle directly behind the Cheyenne Way house. Additional resources were called and 11 units and 34 personnel responded to help fight the fires.
The Cheyenne Way fire took about 20 minutes to knock down and the Rodeo Circle blaze was contained in about 40 minutes, according to the Fire Depratment. Two adults were displaced by the Rodeo Circle fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross. One person was treated for smoke inhalation, but refused transportation. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire and how it spread to the second home are under investigation.
