YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors made provisions in the 1940-41 county budget to allow Sheriff Grat M. Hogin to hire two full-time deputies. The deputies were appointed and would be sworn in Oct. 1; their annual salary was $2,100. Deputy Lyle V. Willet would serve as a general duty officer, while Gus Hansen would serve as a bailiff for Superior Court Judge G.B. Hjelm, whose court had used two deputies on a rotation process.
