Success & Service: Cadet earns award
Justin Jackson, a cadet second lieutenant with Civil Air Patrol Squadron 50 in Modesto, received the Gen. Billy Mitchell Award during a ceremony last month at the Lt. Col. Arthur King Composite Squadron headquarters. It is his second milestone in the cadet program, earned by completing eight levels of achievement. Additionally, he passed a 100-question exam that included leadership and aerospace material.
Jackson, 19, graduated recently from Grace Davis High School and has enrolled at Modesto Junior College. He joined the Civil Air Patrol in 2012. He’s the Alpha Flight commander and also is active in the squadron’s color guard. Created in 1964, the award honors the late aviation pioneer, advocate and staunch supporter of an independent Air Force for America.
Tech firm on fastest-growing list
Principal Service Solutions, a tech company that provides technical services and workforce development for the semiconductor, solar and related high-tech industries, was ranked 289th on the list of the nation’s top 500 fastest-growing private companies by Inc. magazine. From 2011 to 2014, the Modesto-based company increased revenue by 1,580 percent while growing its fundamental technical employee base to over 200 employees.
City honors top recyclers
The city of Modesto recognized local businesses and organizations for waste reduction efforts, innovations in recycling and ongoing efforts to make their businesses and organizations green and sustainable. The 2014 winners, by size, are – small businesses: A&S Metals, Community Business College, Habitat for Humanity-ReStore, Once Upon a Child and The State Theatre; medium businesses: Community Hospice-Hope Chest Thrift Stores, Gallo Center for the Arts, Modesto Junk Co. Recycling Center, Operation 9-2-99, Thomas Downey High School Environmental Club and United Cerebral Palsy of Stanislaus County; large businesses: Boyett Petroleum, Center for Human Services, Crystal Creamery, DoubleTree by Hilton Modesto, E.&J. Gallo Winery, Joseph Gregori High School, James C. Enochs High School, Modesto City Schools, Modesto Irrigation District and Vintage Faire Mall.
Public relations winners named
The Central Valley Public Relations Organization honored eight companies with Excellence in Communication awards at a recent event in Turlock.
Doctors Medical Center, Modesto, received the corporate communication honor for its Women’s Wellness at DMC brochure. The Stanislaus County Office of Education won for its annual report 2014. The Education Foundation of Stanislaus County won for its brochure. Newsletter/Magazine recipients were Never Boring Design for Contentment Health magazine, Vision Magazine for its spring 2015 edition and the East Stanislaus Resource Conservation District for its Stanislaus Grown Local Food & Farm Guide. Electronic communication honors went to Caltrans District 10 for its Operation Fog video, the Stanislaus County Office of Education for its Staff Kick-Off 2014 music video and Never Boring Associates for its Teen Pregnancy Prevention TV Spot. Never Boring also won for the Web site it created for the Atherton & Associates LLP website.
