40 YEARS AGO: A committee organized to save the four Corinthian columns at Patterson High School decided that the columns could not be saved. The columns, a part of the high school facade, would need to be seismically reinforced and the cost was estimated at $150,000. The building and columns built in 1913 were to come down in late September, with new classrooms on the campus taking the building’s place.
