Hot days this week will be out of the way for the weekend

This is the way it should work: Endure hot days during the workweek – hopefully in a well air-conditioned workplace – and we rewarded with more comfortable weekend weather.

Today’s high should be near 94, according to the National Weather Service. That’s much better than the record high of 104 degrees, set in 2010, according to Modesto Irrigation District records. The historic average temperature for Aug. 25 is 90.

Highs over the next few days will be in the middle to upper 90s – near 95 Wednesday, 97 Thursday and 96 Friday, according to the weather service.

But Saturday is expected to bring a pleasant drop to near 88 degrees, followed by a high near 87 on Sunday.

The next workweek will begin with an even milder high – near 84 on Monday.
