Military Academy Information Night offered tonight in Modesto

Students interested in applying to one of the U.S. military academies can get an overview of the nomination process tonight at Big Valley Christian High School in Modesto.

U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham, R-Turlock, will host the Military Academy Information Night from 6:30 to 7:30 in the multipurpose room of the school, located at 1020 Pelandale Ave.

“Our prestigious military academies educate some of the strongest and most capable members of our armed forces,” Denham said in a news release. “I have the great honor of nominating exemplary young people from the Central Valley to our academies each year. Military Academy Information Night gives students and parents interested in the process all of the information they need to apply.”

The annual Information Night is open to all parents and students in eighth through 12th grades who reside in the 10th congressional district. Students interested in applying to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point will be able to meet with representatives from the academies and Denham’s office for details of each academy’s work educating, training and preparing students for military service.
