Where: Modesto Junior College, West Campus, El Capitan Center, Student Center Drive

Info: Modesto Institute of Continued Learning classes for seniors are now in session. Classes include travel, bridge, ukulele, film, current events, U.S. history, Spanish and other. Info: Veterans of Foreign Wars family hamburger night with hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fish sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and chili. Choice of side salad. Cost is $2.50-$5 per meal. YESTERYEARS

25 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors were investigating a possible new home site for the Department of Social Services. The new building would cost $48 million, and would house 800 employees and would accommodate up to 1,000 visitors a day. The current offices at Oakdale Road and Scenic Avenue, County Center 3, was deemed a “no-build” alternative.
