Modesto city attorney Lindgren recognized nationally
Modesto City Attorney Adam Lindgren has been included in the most recent edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the category of municipal law. The lists of top lawyers are generated by conducting peer-review surveys in which tens of thousands of lawyers confidentially evaluate their peers.
Modesto woman gets service dog
Caitlin Cox, 19, of Modesto received her first service dog, Fritz, courtesy of Canine Companions for Independence. Caitlin was born with a rare form of muscular dystrophy called mitochondrial myopathy, a progressive disability that will weaken her as time goes on. It doesn’t prevent her from attending Modesto Junior College, or enjoying adaptive snow and water skiing; she also expects to drive soon.
Merced design student finishes second, earns scholarship
Merced High graduate Alyssa Brooks, 18, earned second place in a national interior-design competition and will receive a scholarship with $27,635 to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco.
She designed a pair of beach houses and a two-story home as part of the contest at the Family, Careers and Community Leaders of America convention in July in Washington, D.C.
Oakdale club names officers
Soroptimist International of Oakdale installed officers for the 2015-16 year. They are: Diane Ott, president; Nancy Lilly, president-elect; Marcia Speiller, vice president; Elaine McConnell, treasurer; Suzette Titus, recording secretary; Debbie Carreira, corresponding secretary; Cheryl Koff and Lisa Hawkins, directors; and Tamberly Stone, delegate. The president’s award went to Christine Serpa-Neugebauer and the distinguished service award to Umbelina Oliveira, posthumously.
