What: COMPUTER USERS GROUP WORKSHOP

What: COLLEGE TRANSFER DAY AND COLLEGE NIGHT

When: Sept. 2, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: Modesto Junior College, East Campus, Student Center Rotunda, 435 College Ave.

Info: High school and college students will have a chance to pick up information and ask questions of representatives from more than 45 four-year colleges and universities. Transfer students will attend from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and high school students planning to pursue higher education will attend from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to college students, high school students and parents. Info: The Stanislaus County Veterans Advisory Commission is planning a meeting and is looking for participation from interested veterans and family members. The commission represents all veterans in Stanislaus County by advising the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors and the board’s staff. Event is free and open to the public. 75 YEARS AGO: The state director of motor vehicles, James M. Carter, released the final figure as to how much of the vehicle apportionment’s counties would receive. Of the total collected by the department, $46 million, Stanislaus County, along with other state counties, would receive $12,987,601 to split. Stanislaus County’s share was $46,874, for the total number of registered vehicles in the county, 34,057.
