Info: Stanislaus County Tea Party meeting featuring guest speaker Eric Eisenhammer, who works for the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association and founded the Coalition of Energy Users. Eisenhammer will speak on the gas tax, fracking and how the government is trying to destroy Proposition 13, organizers said. Reservations are encouraged. YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: Frank C. Haldeman, manager of the Merced American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps, sent out a telegram announcing the corps had won first place in marching and playing at a state competition. The Merced corps defeated Pittsburgh’s corps, the 1939 champions, to receive the honor. The competition was a part of the state legion convention in San Diego and was held in Balboa Park.
