Success & Service: Turlock veterinarian earns national honor
Dr. Silvia Carnaccini of Turlock, resident in avian medicine with the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, was recognized at a recent American Association of Avian Pathologists conference.
Carnaccini won the Best Field/Case/Diagnostic Report award for her presentation on “Hemorrhagic Hepatopathy Syndrome in Salmonella Enteritidis Vaccinated Pullets in California, 2013-2014.”
She is with the lab system’s Turlock branch.
Honor Flight gets $10,000 from Livingston 4th committee
Central Valley Honor Flight, an organization that flies military veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the World War II and other memorials, received a $10,000 donation from the Livingston 4th of July Committee. The committee raised money for the contribution during the annual Independence Day carnival in Livingston that included rides, a car show, live bands, a talent show, vendors and fireworks.
Held at the Max Foster Sports Complex, it drew more people than in previous festivals at other locations.
Modestan gets Honeywell scholarship
Glenda Rodriguez of Modesto, a freshman at the University of Southern California, is one of 10 students to receive $10,000 Horatio Alger Honeywell scholarships. Rodriquez graduated from Modesto High School. The scholarships go to students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Created in 1984, the Horatio Alger Association has funded more than $110 million in undergraduate, graduate and specialized scholarships in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.
