Child expected to survive after falling from second story of Modesto residence
A 4-year-old child who fell from a second-story window in Modesto on Friday night is expected to survive, authorities said.
At about 9:30 p.m., the child was playing on a bed near an open window with a screen attached at a residence on Palisades Avenue, according to Sgt. Jerry Ramar of the Modesto Police Department. He said the child leaned against the screen, fell through it and landed on the parking lot below.
Police and emergency crews arrived on scene in minutes.
The child, whose gender was not immediately known, was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries, Ramar said. It’s possible the child could be flown to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, he said.
