YESTERYEARS
100 YEARS AGO: It was announced that W.H. Langdon would be sworn in the next day as Stanislaus County’s second Superior Court judge. After taking the oath of office, transcripts of the proceeding were sent to the county recorder’s office and to the California secretary of state’s office. Before he could see his courtroom in the Schaffer building, which was not yet ready for his arrival, Langdon was ordered to preside in San Francisco for eight days during the absence of Judge Franklin Griffin in Department 11 for the Superior Court of San Francisco.
