Salvation Army shelter asking for donations
Salvation Army officials are asking for donations of toiletries, bedding, underwear and socks for its Modesto homeless shelter clients.
The shelter needs shampoo and conditioner; spray deodorant; foot powder; small bars of soap; razors and shaving cream; toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss; women’s hygiene items; combs and brushes; underwear and socks; towels; fitted sheets for twin beds, and pillows and pillow cases.
The items can be dropped off at the Berberian Homeless and Transitional Living Shelter, 320 Ninth St.
Salvation Army business coordinator Brian Aird said the items are for the roughly 30 clients in the shelter’s transitional living programs and 30 to 35 clients staying in the emergency shelter.
The emergency shelter offers 100 beds from November through April for the homeless but offers shelter year-round for the homeless who are vulnerable because of a medical condition or for other reasons.
