Mural a gift to Modesto VFW post
The 14th piece of public art by Classic Community Murals is taking shape on the wall of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3199 building on West Hatch Road in Modesto. Being painted by artist Miguel Herrera, the mural depicts a countryside with American and POW flags. Across its lower portion will be the insignias of the five military branches. “It’s Classic Community Murals’ 14th contribution to the revitalization of our community’s overall image, health and well-being,” said John Black, CEO of the Peer Recovery Art Project. “The VFW post called us because they had see the murals and wondered. Well, we are proud of our vets and all they have done, so we volunteered.” The mural is being funded by ModestoView, Wells Fargo Bank, TSM insurance and Peer Recovery Art Project, Black said, and should be done Monday or Tuesday.
