40 YEARS AGO: The Modesto City Schools board adopted a final budget for the fiscal school year totaling $29 million. The adoption of the budget meant that a 31 cent tax decrease would occur for those living in the city elementary and high school districts. The decrease was more than three times the tax drop that had been predicted when the tentative budget had been adopted in June.
