YESTERYEARS
25 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the Modesto Police Department would be assigned an attorney from the District Attorney’s Office as part of the Proposition 15 bill. Assistant District Attorney Lori Begen was assigned to the department and had the task of implementing the bill that gave prosecutors the ability to present testimony from one or two officers at a preliminary hearing instead of calling every officer involved in the case and several witnesses.
