Santa Nella wildfire fully contained, Cal Fire reports
A wildfire in western Merced County has been fully contained, Cal Fire reported in an update Tuesday morning.
The fire, near Interstate 5 and McCabe Road, was held to 1,333 acres, and no structures were threatened.
The fire was reported late Saturday. On Sunday and Monday, several hundred firefighters were attacking the blaze. Monday morning, there were 42 engines and 13 bulldozers on the scene. By Tuesday morning, the personnel totaled 13, with two engines and one dozer.
The cause of the fire was under investigation; a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokeswoman said one possibility was a lightning storm that passed through the area.
