Wednesday at the Stanislaus County Fair (07/15/15)

It’s Real California Milk Day at the Stanislaus County Fair. Gifts to the first 1,000 guests.

WHAT TO DO: Check out the area’s budding artists! The junior art contest for ages 10 to 15 is set for 6:15 p.m. in the competitive exhibits hall.

HIGHLIGHTS: Children can make art projects and take them home at the Lowe’s Make-and-Take project area in the fair’s kids zone. From 5:30 to 7 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m.

VARIETY FREE STAGE: America, 8:30 p.m.

ARENA: Monster truck, mud drags and Jet Car Blast, 6:30 p.m.

CENTER STAGE: Tony & the Tuff Times, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; The Cartel Band, 9 to 11 p.m.

HOURS: Gates open at 5 p.m.; exhibit buildings close at 11 p.m.; carnival closes at midnight

PARK ’N’ RIDE: 4:30 p.m. to midnight; park and ride free from California State University, Stanislaus, (Crowell Road off Monte Vista Avenue) or Pitman High School (Christoffersen Parkway). Shuttles run every 15 to 20 minutes.

WHERE: From Highway 99, exit at Fulkerth Road in Turlock and head east. For fairground parking, turn right on Soderquist Road, or go past Soderquist for more parking; $5 per vehicle.

ADMISSION: $12 for adults, $5 for children 7 to 12 and seniors 65 and older, free for 6 and younger
