25 YEARS AGO: Former Modesto Junior College pitcher Shawn Boskie helped the Chicago Cubs defeat the San Francisco Giants 5-2. Boskie walked six batters but managed to improve his record to 3-4. The rookie was a native of Reno and played the winter and spring season for MJC in 1985 and ’86. Boskie was then drafted by the Cubs as the 10th player taken overall in the 1986 draft.
