Modesto man, 56, identified as victim hit by car on McHenry Avenue
A 56-year-old Modesto man walking across McHenry Avenue was killed Saturday night when he was struck by vehicle.
The accident occurred at 11:15 p.m., just south of Fairmont Avenue.
A black Chevrolet sedan driven by David Boozer, 26, was headed south on McHenry when it struck the man, who was crossing from west to east, according to Sgt. T.J. Moffett of the Modesto Police Department.
Emergency crews worked on the man at the scene. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died. The victim’s identity will not be released until his family has been notified.
Boozer stopped and fully cooperated with police. The preliminary investigation does not show Boozer was impaired, Moffett said.
McHenry was closed for several hours as the MPD traffic division investigated.
Anyone with information, or witnesses to this collision, is encouraged to contact Traffic Officer Jeff Hopkins at 209-652-3165.
