Crash puts car on its roof, other onto porch in Modesto’s La Loma neighborhood
Modesto police and firefighters responded to a two-car hit-and-run crash at La Loma and Las Palmas avenues at 8:55 p.m. Saturday.
Police Sgt. Lance Nicolai said a black Corvette was speeding on Las Palmas toward La Loma when it failed to stop at the intersection. Nicolai said the Corvette broadsided a white Dodge sport utility vehicle traveling northwest on La Loma. The Dodge sheared off a stop sign and landed on its roof. The Corvette jumped the curb and ran into the porch of a house.
Two men wearing red shirts fled from the Corvette on foot. The Dodge’s driver and passenger, women in their 20s, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Nicolai said. Police are looking for the driver and passenger of the Corvette.
