Rob Thomas, Plain White T’s open Gallo season to packed house in Modesto

Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas kicked off the 2015-16 season of the Gallo Center for the Arts on Friday night to a packed house. Thomas is set to release his third solo album, “The Great Unknown,” later this year. Opening for the group was national touring act the Plain White T’s of “Hey There Delilah” fame, and Vinyl Station. Thomas’ show was the first concert on the downtown Modesto performing arts center’s new schedule. But its official season opener won’t be until Sept. 20, with a two-show stint by comedian and former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno.
