What: NEWCOMERS AND FRIENDS MEETING

Where: Modesto branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 1500 I St.

Info: Participants in a free informative Tech Connect program titled “Tech Connect: 3M Cloud Library” will learn how to access the 3M Cloud Library app, a service that offers library customers the ability to access free ebooks. Participants must bring their library cards and are encouraged to bring their electronic devices for hands-on learning. Advance registration is required. What: POLICE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE

YESTERYEARS

40 YEARS AGO: It was announced that Fulvio Bertolotti had pitched a no-hitter and collected six hits in a double-header that saw a two-game sweep of the Stockton Trojans by the Salas Bros. team of Modesto. Bertolotti struck out 12 batters and walked two others. In the second game, teammates Tom Smith and Bill Evans combined to throw a five-hit shutout. The final score for each game was 14-0.
