A crash on southbound Interstate 5 west of Patterson on Monday morning involved a big rig and two other vehicles and had lanes closed for several hours.

The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. The overturned rig blocked two lanes, and the California Highway Patrol urged drivers to use an alternate route. A KCRA-TV helicopter showed about a six-mile backup on the interstate as the scene was cleaned up.

The station reported that there were nails spilled on the roadway. About 9:15 a.m., the CHP reported that all lanes were reopened; representatives could not be reached Monday for word on whether anyone was injured in the accident.
