The fact that it’s hot in the Northern San Joaquin Valley in the summer isn’t exactly news. But that doesn’t make it easier to handle the heat, particularly for those who have to work in it. In Modesto on Thursday, workers toiled in temperatures that flirted with triple digits in Tower Park downtown. They are building three-story, 50-unit Tower Park Senior Housing, a nearly $13.7 million apartment complex for low-income seniors. More toasty temperatures are expected Friday, with the National Weather Service predicting a high of 102. A brief respite is in store for the weekend, with highs in the low 90s before they go back up early next week.
