CHP investigates fatal crash on Highway 165 north of Los Banos

Authorities are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 165 between Hilmar and Los Banos on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at 2:02 p.m. A big rig and a white sedan collided.

According to authorities, the driver of the sedan was declared dead at the scene. Other drivers had reported the car driving erratically moments before the crash, the CHP said.

The collision occurred about 2 miles north of Wolfsen Road, Officer Moises Onsurez said. The road was blocked, and Highway 165 was closed at Highway 140, Onsurez said. It was reopened to one-way traffic at 5:08 p.m.

The driver’s identity and gender were not available.
