YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: The Modesto City Council approved a 10.5 percent salary increase for administrators, matching a similar increase for other city employees during a previous approval. The only city employees to receive a higher pay increase were firefighters, with a 12.5 percent boost. The pay increases for 600 city employees would cost the city an estimated $1,001,392 for the 1975-76 fiscal year.
