Oakdale

What: SUPERHERO TRAINING ACADEMY

When: Thursday, 3:30 p.m.

Where: Oakdale branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 151 S. First Ave.

Info: Participants will receive an official Superhero Checklist and will complete the five challenges on the list to earn a Superhero Certificate. The challenges include making a superhero mask and cuffs, reading to develop brain power, projectile target practice to develop hand-eye coordination, using your senses to develop X-ray vision, and disposing of Kryptonite. Once the certificate is earned, there will be a photo opportunity posing in front of a superhero backdrop. For more information, call the Oakdale Library at (209) 847-4204.

YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: The Modesto Municipal Employees Association, in a special meeting at City Hall, went on record to work with the Stanislaus County Peace Officers Association to combat any and all foreign subversive activities in the county. The resolution was adopted upon request of the peace officers association, who were planning a patriotic rally at the Modesto Junior College stadium July 2.
