Man’s body found at Hughson fire
Stanislaus County detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at the scene of a house fire early Monday.
According to authorities, Hughson Fire Department firefighters were called to a house fire in the 3100 block of Berkeley Road, just outside Hughson, shortly after midnight.
As firefighters worked to put out the blaze, they located a man’s body inside the home. “After the fire was extinguished, a fire investigator and sheriff’s detectives responded to the house to conduct an investigation on the cause of the fire,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Deputy Royjindar Singh identified the victim only as an adult male; authorities said his name is being withheld because the investigation is ongoing.
Cause of the fire remains under investigation. The home is one of several located on the property, which also includes several other buildings. It’s surrounded by orchards.
Investigators ask anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Frank Soria at (209) 525-7080.
