Warm week heading toward hot Father’s Day

There was still a chill in the air at the start of the 8 a.m. hour this morning, but it’s supposed to be another hot day.

The day will be sunny with a high near 93 and a northwest wind of 7 to 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service. That gentle wind is contributing to the cool feeling in Modesto this morning.

Today’s expected high is above the historical average temperature of 88 degrees for this date, according to Modesto Irrigation District records.

The next several days will be a bit hotter, with expected highs near 95 degrees on Tuesday, 96 Wednesday and Thursday and 95 Friday. Winds of 5 to 8 mph are expected Tuesday and Wednesday, picking up to as high as 11 to 14 mph during the nights. Nighttime temperatures will be around the mid-60s.

The weekend highs are expected to be near 97 on Saturday and back into the triple digits – near 103 on Sunday, which is Father’s Day. Saturday night will be a bit warmer, with an expected low temperature of around 70.
