This decision was made in conjunction with dropping $90,000 worth of federal assistance for school lunches. Superintendent Bert C. Corona said the board made the decision to meet a predicted $19,000 deficit for 1970; if the district served free lunches to 2,800 students daily instead of the 460 it did serve.
