100 YEARS AGO: It was announced the Modesto Owl, Rod and Gun Club were planning to pick a two-man and a five-man team to compete at an Olympic shooting competition in San Francisco over a four-day span. The competition would pit the teams against other teams from around the world. Among the then-possible shooters were D.C. Davison and W.H. Garrison. Davison had the club record of 199 out of 200 targets, while Garrison was not far behind with 197 targets.
