100 YEARS AGO: It was reported that Modesto leaders joined to discuss ways bonds could be reissued for proposed fairgrounds and aviation field. In 1919, the issue was defeated by voters. The meeting included representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, Stanislaus Auto Trades Association, American Legion, Merchants Association and Advertising Club.
